Bookkeeping is the process of maintaining complete and accurate books for your business.

At a minimum, this includes:

• Transaction categorization (income, expenses, assets, liabilities, equity)

• Reconciling bank, credit card, and other payment accounts (Stripe, Square, PayPal, etc)

• Receipt documentation

• Other balance sheet reconciliations (inventory, tax liabilities)

Every business is different. If your company requires advanced accounting processes, such as adjusting entries, accrual accounting, or inventory accounting, this should be assessed prior to any financial statement preparation.

Short answer — yes!

Due to financial constraints, some business owners do their own bookkeeping at first.

The key is to make sure you are doing it accurately.

That is up to you! However, this may help you decide:

OPPORTUNITY COST (time) — where is your time most valuable?

Are you a:

1 — Cost Saver

• They value taking home as much profit as possible.

• Therefore, they would rather spend their own time learning how to do their accounting correctly, than pay someone else to handle it.

• Common in very small (< $100k annual gross revenue) and early stage businesses!

2 — Time Saver

• They value having more of their own time to spend elsewhere (other areas of their business, family time, hobbies, travel, etc).

• Therefore, they would rather pay someone else to do their accounting correctly, than to learn to do it themselves.

• Common as a business grows to $200k + in annual gross revenue.

You risk the following (at a minimum):

• missed deductions

• tax penalties

• loan & financing rejections

• inaccurate business decisions

Unless mistakes and errors are corrected early on, they can tend to snowball down the road, and the following may be necessary anyways.

• amended returns

• costly bookkeeping clean-up

All my services are on a “done-for-you” basis. I manage everything, and you can be as hands off as you’d like.

Example month:

DAY 1

You provide all statements, receipts, invoices, and other documents for the previous month.

DAY 2 - 14

I do all your bookkeeping and accounting adjustments.

DAY 15

I deliver your management report, which includes your balance sheet, income statement, AR aging statement, AP aging statement, and cash flow statement.

DAY 16 - 31

The last half of the month, I cover whatever questions you have.

Accountant Package:

• Email + 1 hr Meeting

• Xero (my recommendation)

• QuickBooks Online

Short answer — no. I do not currently offer tax preparation.

However, I liaise with whoever files your taxes, ensuring efficient communication and filing.
